About MEDP

Supported by nabard

Gramin Vikas Seva Samiti, Basti, with the support of NABARD, successfully organized a series of training programs under  the Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) during the years 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25.
The trainings focused on Mushroom Production, Candle Making, and Toy Making for rural youth and women.

The main objective of these programs was to promote self-employment, enhance entrepreneurial skills, and encourage micro-enterprise development in rural areas. This initiative aligns with NABARD’s mission of promoting sustainable rural livelihoods and strengthening the rural economy.

Objective of the Project

The main objective of the MEDP training program supported by NABARD and organized by Gramin Vikas Seva Samiti, Basti,
was to enhance the entrepreneurial and technical skills of rural youth and women by providing hands-on training in
Mushroom Production, Candle Making, and Toy Making.

Specific Objectives:

  • 1. To promote self-employment and income generation opportunities in rural areas.
    2. To develop entrepreneurship and leadership skills among women and youth.
    3. To utilize locally available resources for sustainable livelihood.
    4. To support the creation of micro-enterprises through skill-based training.
    5. To strengthen rural economic development with NABARD’s support.

Training Outcomes

  • A total of 715 participants successfully completed the training and received certificates.
  • Many trainees have started small-scale enterprises in their respective trades.
  • Around 40% of participants began selling their products in local markets, fairs, and exhibitions.
  • Women participants developed confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills through group-based enterprises.
  • The program created a positive impact on rural youth by encouraging self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
